In the Melbourne Herald Sun ( Jan 23 ), there is a report confirming the existence of a disturbing trend in house prices. The paper said they were rising on average $766 dollars a day.
An Australian woman explained her experiences trying to get into the housing market, about the hundreds of thousands of dollars sought by vendors for uninhabitable dumps, dishonest /sleazy real estate agents, crooked wheeling and dealing.
One real estate agent announced that in one area of Melbourne 80 % of houses purchased were by Chinese buyers.
There were parents stating their children are not moving out of the family home as they cannot afford housing. One parent said: "I look across the dinner table at my children and I'm looking at adults and I realise they are never going to move out".
Also noted was the population increasing in Melbourne by 1700 people per week- more than double the increase in population than 4 years ago. There is a problem in the shortage of supply in existing housing stock and a lack of new dwellings coming onto the market.
So are Abbott and KRudd still in favour of "come one come all" immigration and does Abbotts policy on the enviroment and climate change include mowing down more trees to accommodate all these settlers ? Of course anyone who raises these questions will quickly be labelled racist !
